What Happen to Margarito in the Mosley fight??

You wouldn't be the same either if Shane buried his glove wrist-deep in your belly...in the first round.
Tony is too squared-up...
He will always lose to a mofo like Shane.Comment

Margarito is simply on the decline. Forget the handwraps, he's not the same fighter he was 2-3 years ago. I thought so in the Williams fight but the Cotto war confirmed it. He was much slower than in years past--throw in the countless power shots Cotto landed on his noggin plus all the previous wars, how could he possibly be the same? How come Margarito just collapse in the Mosley fight, I alway thought Margarito can be outbox by a pure boxer who doesnt stand and trade with him not a boxer/fighter type who actually fights him at his own game.
Mosley was impressive on that fight but i was shocked by the way he beat margarito easily, I wasnt shocked that mosley won but its the manner in which he KO margarito that was a shock to me, Did margarito just had an off night because of the dressroom(Wrap fiasco) or was he just overrated or what??
If a rematch happens do people see the same outcome or a Margarito victory??
Margarito's prime was sometime between 2003-2007, when he was much quicker and could ratchet up the pace in a second. His performance against Clottey by the way, is extremely underrated and really the last I saw of that Margarito. I doubt I see him again.Comment

I'm glad you bring this is up Corey. The problems with Margarito that night were multidimensional but I know you're a fair cat so hear me out.How come Margarito just collapse in the Mosley fight, I alway thought Margarito can be outbox by a pure boxer who doesnt stand and trade with him not a boxer/fighter type who actually fights him at his own game.

First off the weight. It was well documented that the Tijuana Tornado morphed into the Tijuana Torta after all the celebrating he did post Cotto.
Then there's the question of Mosley himself as an opponent. As many of you may or may not recall, Margarito wasn't all that interested in the fight and at one point called it off citing money.
HBO coughed up more money and Tony took the fight. That implied that he was never that motivated to fight Mosley anyway and took the fight for the cash and overlooked Mosley in the process.
Think about it. Mosley had just gone life and death with a faded Mayorga while Tony engaged in a modern classic. Why would Tony consider him that much of a threat??
The fight was signed very late 08' and Tony had to lose almost 40 pounds in 2 months.
His body didn't look right to me from the start. Go back and watch the way his body looked in the Cotto fight and then watch him take his robe off in the Mosley fight and you'll see.
And finally. ****m "Nation of Islam" Richardson.
This to me is the biggest problem which never gets talked about. Richardson should be considered the biggest saboteur in this whole situation for deliberately going into Tony's locker room to destabilize their camp.
Before any of the plaster allegations surfaced the reports were that he went in there and immediately started bossing Capetillo around, which would explain why Capetillo may have grabbed on old training PAD (Not plaster) and used it in the wraps.
A pad is an infraction, plaster gets you banned for life. Tony got his license suspended for a year so you do the math.
Anyway, the word is that after the whole Richardson debacle, everyone in Tony's camp was steaming and they came out and fought a horrible fight.
If I was Margarito I'd ask for a rematch at STaples, train properly and show everyone what a fluke that was.
So yes, I think a properly prepared Tony whoops Choogar Chain Mozlee's steroid infested ass.Comment

I think your 100% right. In boxing your mental state is just as important as your physical condition and Margie was there but he really wasn't there. I'm sure he wasn't thinking about executing the game plan in this fight; he was probably thinking Im done, my career is done, everyone in Mexico is going to know im a cheater. Man if that's not enough to discourage you to the point of ineptitude I dont know what will. Call me crazy but I think he actually looked forward to getting knocked out as a form of getting pity or praise for valor, while escaping some of the wrath that was sure to come. BTW Im not saying that this was the reason Mosley won but it definitely contributed in how vicious and lopsided the fight was.^^^ while I agree with you that mosley's plan was a perfect one...
I really think that getting caught b4 the fight... affect him..
mosley was better in every aspect... but i cant pretend to ignore the fact that margie didnt look as confident as his previous fights
flaw.... i agree with you with the plan...
but do u really think that margie's wasnt affected at all with the situation?
i personally think that he did knew about the wraps and he knew that it was going to have to deal with that after the fight.. he knew that he was about to get exposed//Comment

You had me going until you that Nation of Islam reference. What does that have to do with anything? Cut that **** out, man. Nevertheless, interesting points.I'm glad you bring this is up Corey. The problems with Margarito that night were multidimensional but I know you're a fair cat so hear me out.
