So I saw Klitchko vs. Chagaev at my friend's pool party.

My friend had a going away, pool party for another friend of mine at his house. There was about 30 people enjoying the sun, water, bbq, beer. He brought out his 52" flatscreen outside to the little bar area he had so people could watch TV while they eat and drank if they wanted.

I dont remember what we were watchin, but I convinced them to change it to the Wlad fight....................................big mistake.

I mean, they started out really intrigued. A huuuuuge stadium filled with 60,000 people. One of my friends even asked why this wasn't on HBO and on ESPN since this looked like a BIG fight. Then they saw Wlad in the ring and how much bigger he towered over everyone in the ring. Another dude was calling him Drago. Then they saw Chagaev and how miniscule he looked compared to Wlad so the feel was,"oh wow, that dude is in for a world of pain".

So there was about 15 people watching. Fight started.

    Round 1:

    Jab, jab jab.......jab....jab jab jab.....jab.......jab right.....jab jab jab.............jab...........jab jab jab.....jab right....End of round 1.

Alright. Feel out round. Pretty obvious that Wlad should be able to dominate because of his jab and physical advantages.

    Round 2:

    Jab, jab jab.......jab....jab jab jab.....jab.......jab right.....jab jab jab.............jab...........jab jab jab.....jab right..down goes Chagaev...jab jab.......jab.....jab....jab.....jab jab jab...jab right...bell rings.

Alright, this fight doesnt seem like it will go the distance as its pretty clear Wlad has the power to put Chagaev away in devastating fashion. The people are waiting.

By round 5, most of the people watching lost interests. Wlad was supremely cautious even though Chaggy was hurt and had no answer to his jab and right hand. by the time the fight was over, it was only 3 people watching...........including me.

Look, I understand Wlad put on a "masterful boxing performance", but Wlad is 9'10'' 459LBS. He is too big to be prancing around the ring, jabbing to death when he has the ability to take out his opponents in a faster, more devastating fashion. He fights as if he was a WW fighting against a bigger, stronger opponent. This is why he gets so much hate. A HW with so many physical advantages shouldnt try to be PBF in the ring. That isn't what the HW division is about.

This feels eerily similar to my thread about the whole debacle.

Sorry but thats the best you would ever see of Wlad until someone like Haye/arreola makes him fight, He did better than he has done in a while...I was turned off him by his performance against Ibragimov and even worst against Hasbeen Rahman who was basically there to make Wlad look good.

Wlad doesn't like to close the show because he has absolutely no confidence in his chin whatsoever.

I like the 'Sweet Science' as much as the next fan of boxing and Wlad does a damn good job of it too, but last night it went 2 or 3 rounds too far.

I generally don't watch boxing with casual fans.
Even at big parties, when the action commences, people get distracted and do other things like in the Mayweather-Hatton fight, Mayweather-DLH, Zoo-Hatton, Arreola-Walker etc.. there only seems to be some diehards watching anyways.

The only ones I can remember people being really intrigued with at a party were Taylor-Pavlik 1 and Ward-Gatti.

It's kind of annoying the comments non-fans make at times about fights, so I like watching them with a few friends who truly appreciate boxing.

If you think about it, baseball and football games can have the same affect on people with the lack of action. It's just that they are more popular overall.

Yeah Chagaev had a lousy chin and Wlad didn't throw the right hand with any venom at all.

I agree with you. Except I think you're being too generous to Wlad. I think he couldve gotten Ruslan outta there by the 5th.

I never said Chagaev had a weak chin and that Wlad was *****footing with his punches, but it was pretty obvious that Wlad could have finished the fight a lot sooner and a lot more exciting.

Look, if euro fans are happy with his performance and feel Wlad is an exciting HW, then more power to them. They can have all that excitement in their part of the woods.

Just don't complain about how other fans don't care to watch him or how HBO wont televise any of his fights.

At a pool party, you should be looking at the hoes and drinkin it up anyways.
A fight is just kind of an added attraction anyways.

I do convince the hosts to buy fights when I am at a party. It always works too.. LOL.

Yes its clear we were being too rough on HBO for not picking this fight up. Apparently they were right about it all along.
