Not a big fan of his fights, but as a boxer the way he can dominate with ease and the gentleman he is outside of the ring makes me a fan only just recently as well.

Lots of people always gravitate to the Heavyweight Champion, they are not to my taste personally but I'm sure a lot of fighters I favour arn't to other peoples taste.

As for being white, well I'm sure there are some to who this is a vital factor. As a rule of thumb I believe the fans who denigrate Ali are this way inclined, Ali being a vocal black fighter might be thought of as "uppity" in their words.

Throughout HW history a white hope has always attracted the more floating of sports fans to boxing. That is not always a racist thing it just stirs interest and brings people and money into the sport.

I am white British/Italian.

It doesn't always work that way though, David Haye fans for example
are mostly British white chavs who read the Sun. I am sure he has other
fans too, but for the most, they are english chavs.
