Lol, I dont follow super heavyweights. Hell I dont even follow heavyweights. Butterbean was all the rage a while back. Point is, he lost to a damn lightweight.

Anyways, im just trying to prove a point. You cant judge all of MMA for Tim Sylvia's gay ass. Then again, I would expect the same from MMA fans if Anderson Silva beat RJJ in a boxing match. Then again, I would be trying to bring all the MMA fans back down to earth as well.

Butterbean isn't a SHW champion. A 50 something your old Larry Holmes schooled Butterbean. I think we can agree that almost every current heavyweight we see on a major broadcast would trainwreck the Bean. Now to respond to the original topic, Slyvia was dumb and tried standing-up with a heavy handed boxer, and learned thatit's a poor idea quickly. If Slyvia tried taking Mercer down he in almost all cases would have won, but he didn't and embarrassed himself. The problem with most UFC/WEC/PRIDE/Affliction/Strikeforce fighters (I won't say MMA in general because I have only seen fights from those companies for all I know in other countries it may be different) is that there stand-up game is very poor compared to their ground game. Most of the UFC fights I have seen feature guys who wildly swing at each other like their at a bar fight while standing still. Even Joe Rogan commented on this during the UFC 98 card. For example that Lyoto Machida character makes himself look invinicble in the octogon by using solid footwork and headmovement. Watching an airhead like Slyvia get clocked by a washed out heavyweight doesn't prove much that we don't already know.

mercer beat sylvia in sylvia's own sport though. wouldn't a double standard be some mma guy beating klitschko in boxing. that butterbean fight was in mma plus butterbean sucks and was never champ or even ranked in the top 1000 since he only fought 4 rounders against local cab drivers and everyone watched and laughed cause he was such a fatass.
