I say this in the most respectfull way possible:Cotto stans (not fans) have NO heart.

I think they should just keep the dam divisions seperate. By the way, i like, respect and admire pacman a lot, but cotto moreso. Just my 2¢ They both have fighters in their own divisions they can fight.
edit;
is margos PoP 12 step program going good for him? I think he fell off the wagon at least once since '93...lol.Last edited by jazluvr; 06-22-2009, 05:25 PM.Comment

If Fanny Pac sweated-down featherweight and got KO'd by Gamboa you'd be making all kinds of excuses.Comment

In all my years I have never seen people who label themselves as being fans nag and complain so much over a mere two pounds. Cotto is supposed to be a warrior looking for the biggest and baddest challenges, and he has taken them in mrgarito and clottey, however everyone here knows that one year ago people would have been calling Cotto names and questioning his heart if he were to pursue a Pacquiao fight at 140 let alone 145. What you guys are forgetting is that Pacquiao is a blown up featherweight that had to eat two breakfasts on weigh in day just so that he could weigh in over 135, where most fighters starve themselves to make weight. Thus it can be seen that Pacquiao really isn't even a ljr WW, and currently is more of a lightweight. On the other hand Cotto comes into his fights as a middleweight, and now probably comes in at well over 160 since the last time he allowed himself to be unofficially weighed in he was a whopping 158lbs, and that was when he looked much smalle rin the ring at 140. Manny on the other hand has been coming in at the same weight of 147 for years now, which shows you that Manny is the same size in the ring now he has been since he was at 126lbs.
What you have to realize is that fights at catchweights have been happining as long as boxing has been around. Recently you may have noticed that bernard Hopkins who was the undisputed MW champion of the worl, who held all the titles at MW including the Sugar ray Robinson trophy was forced to come down to 156lbs just two pounds over jr MW against De La Hoya, and guess what the fighter that was supposed to be drained showed no damage at all and won showing that he was the better man regarless of having to sweat off the weight. Hopkins also came in at 156 against trinidad in a fight he was supposed to be decapitated in, and he once again showed that weight didn't matter after he beat down Trinidad. Recently Roy Jones junior also came down all the way to 168.5 lbs, his lowest weight in years, in a fight many considered to be a 50-50 affair, and did he lose? No he showed he was the better figher. Another example would be Hopkins vs Pavlik. Kelly Pavlik who fought at 166 just one fight prior forced the fight to be at a 170 lb catchweight in hopes of sapping a 43 year old man of energy. Did it help? No it didn't the better fighter won yet again.
All these points go to show you that even when a catchweight is administered in hopes of making a fight that would normally be a mismatch more even it does not make the outcome a forgone conclusion, and 9 times out of ten the better fighter comes out at top. Saying this I have one last question to the Cotto stans, not the mild fans but the stans. Are you really afraid of two pounds, or do you guys think Cotto isn't good enough to beat a blown up featherweight that he will outweigh in the ring by almost 15 plus lbs come fight nigh? If you guys do not have confidence in your man to beat a blown up featherweight, where JMM was the much smaller man and fight on even (or even better) terms with a Pacquiao who was the bigger man, then I do not know what to say. So what is it, are you guys not confident in Cotto (do you think he isn't good), or do you think the 15 plus lbs of weight advantage he will have are not enough, and he needs even more to beat a man who will be coming in at fight night weighing the same unofficially he did against Morales four years ago. you make up your minds. I repeat this is a message to Cotto's stans and not his sensible fans. Thank you.Comment

I do agree with some of the points you make, I think people (whether they like catch weights or not) and now making out as if catch-weights only drain fighters and make them come in dehydrated...all of that started just because de la hoya fked up his weight....that doesnt mean its going to happen to every fighter...2 pounds can be lost for cotto...i think 143 is way to low... 144-145 would be fair as he weighed in at 146 in his last fight...
Losing weight doesnt DRAIN a fighter....IF they dont eat right and do the necessary things to lose the weight that when they are in the ****...Comment

I just visited Cotto's website. Here is a link of Cotto being weighed in at pre-fight. Look at him. He looks pretty dam good at this weight. And this is pre-fight.
I don't know what he weighed in at fight night, and i really have no point to make, just an observation of what he looks like at 161, and what he would look like at 145 or below.
By the way, he won the boxer of the year for 2008 by the WBA.Comment

Why are people making it seem like Cotto's the one jumping hurdles to make this fight happen? Pacquiao is calling the shots and wants to fight Cotto. I do agree it should be a WW fight, but why are so many people ****ting on this fight?
It's crazy truthfully, because a lot of you cry about how Boxing needs this and needs that...now you got a super fight on your hands and ya'll wanna see Bradley vs Pacquiao and Berto vs Cotto instead because one guy weighs this and the other weighs that? C'mon man...step out the box a little. This is a HUGE FIGHT!
I wouldn't be so excited for this fight if it was Pac's 1st time at WW, but man...the dude has proven he can perform at that weight...why not fight one of the best in the division and prove yourself? Trust me...come fight night it's not going to be this mismatch on either side of the plate that some are thinking it is.
Matter of fact, out of all these threads I haven't seen one thread about HOW both fighters will win (maybe I missed it). They're fighting in the ring, not on a weight scale.Last edited by Ravishing; 06-23-2009, 01:44 PM.Comment

So i gotta say, if Cotto accepts this fight i gotta stand behind him. Because i do have faith in him, despite the great fighter Manny is. Believe me, i give Manny his props, but Cotto has recently swam through a mile of **** to come out with the "rose in his teeth". He has proved himself everytime. After a couple days reading the many opinions and posts, then trying to balance my own opinion out of any and all information i can make a sound decision on, i say my man Cotto will win.
I really like this..."If anybody has doubts about me after all I've done over the last nine years, they're not going to believe in me anyway," - Miguel Cotto
