the most mentally tough fighters i've seen as of late are guys like Mayweather, Mosley, and Hopkins. Those guys there really dont seem to be affected by the media, fans, or other fighters.

Too many fighters lately seem to get mentally broken by either the fans, or another fighter, or the media...

hopkins and mosley are my two most PRIME examples of that...mosley and hopkins both had every reason to walk into the ring and lose (mosley to margarito and hopkins to pavlik) and no one would have criticized them for doing so as they were seen as past their prime going into the fights against two other very good fighters...

the media and fans werent shy about pointing it out either...the chips stacked against both of em...and what do they do? they go out there and do it. period. thats mental toughness...they could have just went the distance to say they can still hang in there but they in big a big way...highlight reel worthy moments of their careers.

thats mental toughness; when most dont expect much more than you to show up and hang in there and turn the tables and deliever.

Thats why certain fighters are so loved in the sport...the warrior mentality...thats why mexicans are so proud of their fighters because they are known for having all the courage and heart in the world.

I cant lie, thats why i admire certain fighters a lot more...i admire guys like gatti, corrales, JLC, MAB, etc (too many to list) because of their heart.

as i had said before (in a thread asking about the first fights we remember seeing growing up) and mine was tyson-holyfield I. i was in elementary school when that fight took place. but the fight that changed me for a casual viewer to a true die hard FAN was seeing fighters with that courage...that warrior mentality...

guys like corrales getting up from two knockdown in a round to comeback and stop his opponent in what i consider the most exciting round of boxing i've ever witnessed...and the hardest round to watch since his passing...

or seeing gatti and ward go back and fourth in their first fight and punching until they literally couldnt punch no more.

those guys are what makes the sport truely special.

its hard to say whos the toughest mentally. there are far too many to list; in this era or otherwise.
