Everyone has been speaking as though Mayweather not really being injured is a foregone conclusion. So, pretty simply do you think Mayweather is faking/exaggerating his injury for non health related reasons or is he simply the victim of an injury? I apologize for adding to the already growing # of Mayweather threads. Poll to follow.

25Yes, he is injured.52.00%13No, there are other reaons/factors at play here.48.00%12Tags: None -
The simpelest solution is that he is injured (injured enought to postpone the fight) rather than some conspiracy invovling many people.
Mayweather will slip up if he is faking and there will be proof, until then I will believe he is injured.
To me changing the date of the fight on a whim when they most liekly already spent milion on marketing the fight, really only brings a larger loss into play. I really do not think the market for the fight changes a great deal (although Vegas is a little easier to get people to go to in September as opposed to July but I highly doubt the PPV market will really change at all), does the posibility of selling a few more tickets offset the money lost on marketing the first date (could go wither way I guess, but my thinking would be no). -
But what if he's trying to set up a move to fight a different fighter than JMM.The simpelest solution is that he is injured (injured enought to postpone the fight) rather than some conspiracy invovling many people.

There's something fishy about it especially because it's Mayweather involved. Why doesn't he provide proof and put all the speculation to rest? There is one month until the fight and it needs to be postponed another couple of months because of some bruising on his rib? Riiiiight!!Comment

It depends on if you believe that just scrapping the fight wasting all the marketing on this fight, plus possible legal action from JMM is more palatable to them then going through with the fight maybe loosing that money, but maybe not.
It is tough to say without knowing what the exact numbers on what they spent already, if they were going to loose more then that number going through with the fight it is possible.
The simplest possible solution is that Floyd is really injured, rather then some complex reasoning behind the move, how they chose to use the injury is a different question .Comment

I honestly think he suffered a light injury that he could potentially have fought through however combined with possibly targeting a different fighter or being active/inactive at the right moment to line up a different bout. I think it could be a little of A & B. Maybe your right. If he decides not to fight JMM then we can be pretty sure he was up to shennanigans. It depends on if you believe that just scrapping the fight wasting all the marketing on this fight, plus possible legal action from JMM is more palatable to them then going through with the fight maybe loosing that money, but maybe not.

I am willing to accept a little of both, that makes sence that he got injured but they are now using it to their advantage. Rib injuries are only cured by rest which would mean no training, so even if Floyd only had to take 2 weeks off, being the gym rat he is I think he would believe he would need a full 6 week camp. If that is even remotely close that is 8 weeks, if you are putting off the fight that far should find the best possible solution if they made a terrible mistake in the first place.I honestly think he suffered a light injury that he could potentially have fought through however combined with possibly targeting a different fighter or being active/inactive at the right moment to line up a different bout. You are right that if he fights someone else then that supports that case, but still Floyd could have been injured enough to have to postpone the fight but it would be admitting the fight was a mistake in the first place (pretty much everything about it date, venue, price, opponent ~you name it, it was a mistake if they go that route~)Comment

You hit it right on the head. Was going to say the same thing. It could be a little of both, but the injury may be exagerated by the evidence of the fight not doing very well at the Box Office with exactly one month to go.I honestly think he suffered a light injury that he could potentially have fought through however combined with possibly targeting a different fighter or being active/inactive at the right moment to line up a different bout. Cotto vs Clottey outsold this fight by this point (a month prior).Comment

If he does try and go straight at someone other than JMM anytime soon everyone's going to really be calling him Fraud Mayweather and having tons of sympathy for JMM. Hard to imagine it unfolding the way we suspect. Maybe.. even though he would ultimately lose money for postponing just to sell more tickets.. He's still doing it so he can still claim to have drawn a proper audience. If he doesn't draw the right #s then he'll have no leverage in talks over the split in a Pac or Cotto fight. You hit it right on the head. Was going to say the same thing.
