    Great News For Team Philippines!

Donaire & Concepcion will be in action soon enough.

    By Nick Giongco

Top Rank big boss Bob Arum told ********* on Wednesday that Filipino champion Nonito Donaire will relinquish his IBF flyweight crown to vie for the soon-to-be-vacated WBA super-fly title on Aug. 15 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. In the main supporting fight, another Filipino puncher, featherweight Abe Concepcion battles Steven Luevano for the world 126-lb crown. This fight was originally scheduled May 2 underneath the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton scuffle but an injury suffered by Luevano prompted Arum to call it off.
    —–
In another development, Arum revealed that Brian Viloria will defend his IBF light-fly diadem sometime in September in Cebu City in the Philippines where the Hall of Fame promoter said Rodel Mayol might get his immediate rematch against Ivan Calderon of Puerto Rico for the WBO light-fly ***els following the disappointing result of their bout over the weekend at Madison Square Garden.

i dont sense any nationalism bias by a simple reference of them as pinoys.

Donaire is the only one who matters. Most pinoy prospects i have seen, including conception, just dont strike me as really having much longevity in the sport, but donaire is on another level, not just because hes filipino, hes just a cut above about 95 percent of the fighters in the game. He may not get the press as much as these other hypejobs, but hes the truth and he is the one to hold the mantle for that country when pac retires.
