Is it because a lot of old boxers go to MMA? That seems to be the trend. I don't hear of old MMA fighters going to boxing.

Not as bad an idea as you may think, The Kiwis celebrate any sporting victory, no matter how small as a massive victory of epic proportions, Tua winning an mma belt would be like in England winning the world cup or america winning the superbowl
