The Cotto vs Clottey scorecard without emotions

I'm noticing as I go through the web that many sports writers had the fight for Cotto and some even had it at 116-111. Sometimes you need to take the emotions of being a cotto hater or lover out of the equation. That's why i look at the writers and so called experts because they view the fight as a fight not as a fan, well some do.

Associated press had it 116-112 cotto

Dan Rafael(espn) had it 116-111 cotto

Eric Sloan (Boxing Examiner) had it 114-113 cotto

Ben Thompson (FIGHTHYPE) had it 115-112 Cotto

Patrick Gutierrez (Fox Sports) had it 114-113 Clottey

Cliff Rold (BoxingScene.com) had it 115-112 for Clottey

Some say it was a robbery, i say it was a close fight. If Clottey would've gotten the decision I would've been ok with that. The Cotto lovers and Cotto haters just see it different.

I agree. I had it 114-113 for Cotto (rounds 1,3,4,6,10,12). I could see giving round 11 to Cotto too (I gave it to him the first time I watched the fight but gave it to Clottey the second and third time).

To me, it was a 6-6 round fight with the KD being the difference. Very close fight that could've gone either way but I still believe Cotto pulled it out. Like I said, I can see a 115-112 or 114-113 for Cotto or 114-113 for Clottey, but those are the only three scores I think are reasonable.

what I do know is that Williams will knock Clottey the **** out if they ever fight. Horrible, horrible choice from Clottey, why would he call out Williams when Cotto was able to punch through his guard and corner him? Does he not think Williams is capable of cornering him and punching through his guard? I think Clottey thinks he is better then an older Wright, I don't think Id agree to that.

          I don't think so.

Clottey is very durable and has top notch defense.

Williams would clearly outwork Clottey to a decision.

I think Williams punches harder then people think, and I don't think Clotteys defense is as good as an old Wrights. Cotto was punching through Clotteys guard!

Williams has underated power but i would say at this stage, Clottey has the better defense over Wright.

Wright's defense has declined through the years.

Cotto was getting through his guard sometimes but not alot.

Probably because Paul Williams almost has the same results vs Margarito that Cotto had vs Clottey, and Clottey almost beat Margarito with 1 hand. Paul Williams won the Margarito fight 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112, got cut over left eye and got beat up in 11th rd.

I had it 114-113 for Clottey, he landed the much cleaner, harder punches and was chasing Cotto around the ring all night long.

Cotto had his moments when he had Clottey against the ropes but even then most of those shots were blocked. I can't really remember Cotto landing any significant shots other than a right hand in the middle rounds.

Clotteyon the other hand was landing big in the 5th round before he was thrown on the floor.

Close fight but an honest decision would have been a draw, no way Cotto did enough to out point Clottey even with the flash knockdown in the 1st.

Regardless, Clottey vs. Williams should be a really great snoozefest.
