Here's how my original scorecard
I gave Cotto rounds 1 thru 4, 6, and 10-12 which gave him a score of 116
I gave Clottey rounds 5 and 7 thru 9 which gave him a total of 111
I watched the replay and here's how it turned out
I gave Cotto rounds 1, 3, 6 and 10 thru 12 which gave him a total of 114
I gave Clottey rounds 2, 4, 5, and 7 thru 9 which gave him a total of 113
either way guys, Cotto won the fight!! Rounds 2 and 4 were the rounds I changed my scores. But I still stand by my original score over the second one!
Yes, Clottey landed the cleaner shots, but, you can't land 3-4 good shots and expect it to be good enough. 3-4 good, crisp , clean punches in a 3 minute round simply ain't enough against the workrate that Cotto put in, in each of those rounds.
Here's what my African coach said who happens to be from Ghana, he sounds just like Clottey but his accent ain't as thick, lol.
Anyway, he thought the fight could've gone either way, but he leaned towards Cotto. He saw it just like how many of us saw it, Clottey gave the fight away, and he also brought up Clottey's complaints throughout the fight ie the body slam, low blow and getting hit behind the head.
he said that it gave the impression that Clottey didn't want to be in there. Like he was banking more on the ref to take points away rather than work to win each round, I agree!
