Night in The Big Apple is Always a Tasty Treat

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Not that I needed it, but it’s amazing what a big fight night at Madison Square Garden can do for a guy’s love of boxing.

So as I sit in the afterglow just 12 or so hours after the Cotto/Clottey main event, here are a few reasons why it retains its undisputed title – an unapologetic passion for ice hockey notwithstanding – as my favorite sport.

    1. Hey fuggetaboutit, it’s New York – Sure, the traffic can be a pain in the neck. Yes, dropping $45 for six hours in an underground parking lot seems a bit much. But even after myriad trips to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and other premier fight venues, nothing beats the tangible excitement that arrives the instant my tires hit the George Washington Bridge en route to Mecca.

And by the time I finish navigating the West Side Highway, dash past the credential table and take a seat ringside amid the banners and lights and ambiance, I’m always glad I chose journalism over higher-paying – albeit more pedestrian – pursuits. [details]

funny 2 me how he contradicts himself when he says clottey won seven out of twelve rounds so clottey should have come out with 114-113 win. IDIOT what about the 1st round K.O., u dont count that? & hes supposed 2 be a boxing writer... amazing, what a goof ball....

        The author's scorecard for Clottey: (7 x 10) + (4 x 9) + (1 x 8) = 70 + 36 + 8 = 114

        The author's scorecard for Cotto: (5 x 10) + (7 x 9) = 50 + 63 = 113

That is why the author scored it 114-113 to Clottey.

          Hey DonLucky

Give me an address and I'll send you 10 bucks to buy a calculator and figure out how my card of 7 rounds to 5 can equal 114-113.

Hopefully you'll learn how to use it before you post again... idiot.
