David Tua had ample opportunities to step up and get himself into eliminators and title fights.
However, at a time when people say there are not many good heavyweights, he wasn't able to win a world title!
Tua scored some exciting KOs, but he was never good enough to beat the best boxers in the division. He lost to Chris Byrd, who was twice defeated by Wladimir Klitschko.
For some reason he fought mostly journeymen when he was in his early thirties. Why did he fight bums like Garing Lane (20-27) when he was near his peak in 2001 and later in 2005 a string of soft opponents like the cruiserweight journeyman Talmadge Griffis?
By now, he's become too old anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter anymore.
