Just as it was obvious to all of us, Floyd and his team were probably aware that Bob Arum was going to set up a fight between Pac and Cotto if Cotto beat Clottey this last saturday.
Manny fought in May which, if they followed the normal downtime between Manny's fights would put a Manny Cotto fight in September/early October. If Floyd went forward with a fight in July, it would then leave him either with a longer-than-desired layoff before fighting Manny. Moving his fight to September not only sets him up to fight roughly around the same time Manny and Cotto will, and sets the stage perfectly for their fight to be made. As well as giving him more time to polish the old gloves and get his game back.
