According to Klaus-Peter Kohl, manager of undefeated Ruslan Chagaev, the WBA heavyweight title may be at stake when his fighter challenges WBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday in Germany. Chagaev is the WBA's "champion in recess" and Nikolai Valuev is listed as the official champion by the sanctioning body. Universum, who promote Chagaev, sent a request to the WBA to sanction the fight. [details]

A Wladamir win is big for the division
Hopefully Chagaev pulls the upset and we get Chagaev Valuev 2!!! But seriously, If Klitschko wins, which i think i think he disposes Chagaev early, I agree that he should then fight Povetkin and Valuev. Everybody ****s on the heavyweight division, and it definetly isn't great, but there are plenty of fights to be made among the "top" names, even if they are predominantly European. Youv'e got Chambers vs Dimitrenko coming down the line in an eliminator, Chris Arreola, David Haye, Vitali, all in need of fights. James Toney vs Sergei Liakovich allegedly this summer. There are always fights there, they just need to be made. With Wladamir to soon have three, maybe four titles, this is great for the division because you have to imagine that all these names will have to start fighting eachother, because if Wladamir has all the titles, he can only defend them against one fighter at a time.Comment
