Floyd shouldve never retired

Recent articles have led me to believe he really doesnt have the same privileges he used to have. People are attacking him more than ever and if he is to lose a high profile fight due to inactivity it will really hurt his legacy.

His retirement has led to the p4p rankngs being all scrambled up with Pacman emerging on top. Making statements like "I just dont love boxing" have not exactly helped increase his fanbase. Had he not retired he wouldve been able to get the lionshare in any high profile fight he'd be in, now he's struggling to get 50/50 for a potential match against Pac.

Scenario if Floyd never retired: Wouldve had a rematch with DLH in the fall of 2008 and beaten him probably more convincingly. He couldve fought anybody at this point and wouldve increased his marketability. Pacquiao even though he is exciting would probably have stayed at LW and wouldve fought a third Marquez fight, occupying the #2 spot if he'd won. If Pac wouldve made it up to WW and challenged Floyd the split would probably be 70/30 in favor of Floyd.

Point is Floyd has made his return to boxing very difficult for himself...

if he was having injury issues and lost the love then he shouldve retired...but if he was just playing the market then it was a bad move

He couldve rather chosen to stay inactive like DLH did before he fought Mosley. He would still have been p4p #1 and gotten the lionshare against Pac (had he made it to WW). Just sayin..

Yes, he should have retired because he was afraid to face the Cotto's, the Margaritos, the Clotteys, the Mosleys any real welter, and Floyd was campaigning as a welter weight. He was afraid to fight these guys so what was he going to do? Who was he going to fight? Now he is back but things have changed and he no longer is in charge. Cotto is still around, Mosley is still around, Clottey is still around, Margaplaster is coming back and Floyd will continue to duck these guys and look for smaller fighters like JMM or Ivan Calderon Floyd's plan is backfiring and everyone has just witnessed the truth that Floyd is not the cash cow he claims he is.

Floyd has made a bunch of mistakes and he is even trying to weasel his way out of the JMM fight because he can't draw a crowd with his boring pot shot routine. He should just go back to retirement and watch the parade go by with Manny Pacquiao sitting as the grand marshall. It's Manny Time. Floyd had his chance but fear drove him into hidding. I say stick to hidding Floyd before you shame yourself even more. Wait, he cant hide, he is broke, he owes the IRS money.

But I always say if the man felt he needed a break from boxing, mentally and/or physically, then what can you do? Boxing is a demanding sport and he doesn't owe anything to anyone except maybe the IRS

Honestly, Manny Pacquiao blind sided the hell out of everyone. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined Manny Pacquiao fighting at 140 and 147 and destroying two fighters that Floyd struggled with. Talk about throwing a monkey wrench.... Pacquiao and company threw in the whole freakin tool box.

I think he shouldn't have "retired" but should have announced a layoff. If your hearts not in it, you're not going to train like you should, he probably would have had a tyson vs douglas moment somewhere. However, when he left it was a bad move financially, because he could have had huge fights with Cotto, Margaritto, Mosely, and rematches with Hatton, ODH (huge sellers there) but Pacman, destroyed those rematch possibilities.
I think undefeated cotto is a better seller than cotto with a loss, (although a questionable one, but now with a questionable win to his record too) Margaritto got exposed (in two ways) by mosely, making a Floyd Margo fight less intriguing, Mosely will be concidered over the hill if floyd beats him, Hatton and ODH probably won't ever fight floyd again, unless hatton comes on a huge comeback, learns to box and decides to avenge his two losses, but thats probably not a huge seller unless he comes back and somehow beats manny.

Financially he left at the wrong time, but if he wanted his record in tact (which i know he does, he thinks an undefeated record is better than quality resume even with a few losses) he left at a good time, having that 0 on the record is a lot of added stress for a fighter, it can work either way, make them train harder, or make them overconfident and careless (tyson).

the reason being why retire when your at the top? He said he aint gonna let boxing retire him, but its not like hes past his prime now....if your in ur prime n u lose it jst shows u wernt all that....so that is jst ****** in my eyes
