Berto needs to fight Collazo/Clottey or even Shane Mosley next, but I doubt Shane wants anything to do with him. I think Floyd/Manny is going to get made and Marquez will get some step aside money, Floyd knows that he needs to make the fight while he still has some nice leverage. If the fight against Marquez didn't do well at the box office Arum would have ****d his ass in the negotiations.

I thought Clottey won by two rounds. There were a few close rounds, but in those close ones it seemed like Clottey was the one doing all the damage and controlling the pace, along with being the ring general.

I honestly belive he just got punched in the mouth and went down...It was a flash knockdown...you can tell when he got hit his legs gave out a little. saying it was a slip is kinda silly...cause that what happens when you get dropped you slip

All knockdowns would be considered slips if that was the case.

I want to add...That when Clottey shells up and waits for punches.... he sees them coming and absorbs them a lot better.

When you catch him lunging in ...The punches have a much bigger affect...because

          1. your using his momentum against him...Instead of him just sitting still with his hands up waiting for your punches.

          2. He doesn't see it coming.

          3. He tends to pop his head up and expose that chin.

You don't have to be hurt to be knocked down.

I will agree that Clottey was off balance, but it was Cotto's jab that made him off balance and forced the knockdown.

Cotto threw it perfectly as Clottey was trying to get a shot off, and he got caught off balance, and fell.

I didn't see any signs of a slip there.

I believe it was Letterman who made a point about the ring being painted a day before the fight or something like that which leaves all the logos slippery because of the fresh paint. Not sure if it's true or not but it might be something to look into.

But I think him and Berto would be a good fight and that would be Berto's first loss.
Off topic, but every time I see your sig, I remember what an incredible movie that was. Amazing from start to finish.

Cotto is heavy handed, I don't believe Joshua was hurt, but it was legit. Good to hear he wants a rematch, he needs to fight a bit harder this time. He can't afford to get caught in the corner or give away the twelfth round. He has already proven he can hang with the best -- win or lose.

Man Clottey needs to get a better understanding of the business. I'm a fan of the guy and want to see him among the top WW in the world, but as long as he doesn't keep his composure, he won't get the chances he wants. The nature of the business being example last night, sold out Garden Cotto fans up the ass and as honest as Clottey is, I can't stand the fact that he believes if it is a close fight it could go his way. Everything was in Cotto's favor including the judges who had scored for him in previous fights; Close fight=Cotto Wins. Having the same promoter and anything else doesn't matter. I'd say he lost the fight because he wasn't as active in the last 2 rounds. Not because he didn't want to be but because Cotto made himself difficult to hit. Had Clottey scored a knockdown in addition to fighting the way he did all night, the fight would've been his. If he did all that as well as stick to the gameplan and staying busy all night, a robbery would be if they gave him a draw. Great fight though, I doubt a rematch.
