^^^ y is everyone saying with no cut cotto wins.. its aprt of boxing he got cut big deal.. not only that.. Clottey's Defense wwas ****ing GREAT... Cotto had blood in his eye.. n he was still accurate with his punches they were just being blocked..
Emanuel Steward said it best when he told lampley " I cant see how any judge has cotto winning.. this was in the 9th rd.. and if u dont think clottey won 10th and 11th also the 9th than i dunnoComment

His plan was flawless IMO... get KD'd in the first round, do **** all for the next few, get battered on the ropes for the sixth, then - when Cotto's totally ****ed up and looking to quit (Amigorito II?) - let him off the hook and take your foot off the gas. Sure, Clottey wasn't throwing punches for the last couple of rounds and Cotto was catching him coming in, but Clottey was the one moving forward, as he said. The direction of movement is what wins rounds, after all.
Some ****s say things like "judges score fights over twelve rounds", but if you consult compubox - the best way to score a fight IMO - then it says Clottey landed more punches.
What a robbery.
it wasnt a robbery. clottey was winning until the 8 or 9th, and then stopped punching! he gifted cotto rounds 9 thru 12 because he didnt throw anything. so hes only got himself to blame.Comment

I agree with this thread.
Clottey bummed himself.
What? you win the fight because you were moving forward.
I guess Clottey would pitch a shutout against PBF then. If Clottey was just sticking a jab out there consistantly from round 9 onwards he probably would have won.
But he couldn't adjust, and Cotto could. Cotto deserves a lot of credit imo.Comment

Simply put, Clottey lost this fight more than Cotto won it. He had his chance to be a true Champion and take over late, but he ****ed up. Cotto did well by switching up his gameplan and trying to be a harder target with movement. Notice he tried to counter with a left uppercut that had success.
But Clottey did NOTHING. He walked forward and barely punched. Cotto won 11 and 12 on my card to take the fight, and when I scored 10, I wrote down very close.
Cotto looked a little sluggish at times and was obviously hurt by the cut. I think overall him winning is ppretty impressive. Because he had no reason to win that fight.Comment
