The weigh in was 5 days in advance?

Fight known as "The Thrilla in Manila" -- weigh-in was 5 days in advance of bout
1975 Fight of the Year - Ring Magazine

Any historians care to elaborate on this subject?

Since people like to say that fighters who quit are punks and biatches, I guess Frazier was a punk and I guess so was Oscar De La Hoya right?

Pity some fan boys feel this way but if that is the case, so be it.

Anyway, what was up with the weigh-in for Ali-Frazier III?

Don't think it really even matters since they are heavyweights.

lol duh, sorry, I just woke up. Why didnt I even bother to think about that one. So why is their a weigh in then? Why not just weigh them in just before the fight since weight is not really an issue.?

Frazier was pulled out by Futch.

He cracked the ****es when he realised he was getting pulled out by his corner. There was never any quit in that guy.

Nonetheless, I don't understand the whole "He quit, he's a *****" thing. If someone can't go on, why go on?

they didn't have to come in at any weight limit so what's the difference?

frazier was arguing with the stoppage. eddie futch stopped it.

oscar was waiting for nacho and the ref to stop it.

cotto gave up. no shame in that btw. he had had enough.

btw frazier was in the 14th round i believe.

cotto and oscar would be dead if they waited 'til the 14th round.

Yup, Frazier lost 12 pounds in those last 5 days run up to the fight.

yeah. that's one good thing about mma.

when you're getting you're ass kicked and you've had enough , you can tap.

saves people from a lot of brain damage.

to me if a boxer gives it his all but is taking too much punishment and no chance of winning......the boxer should have the option of quitting without it being a shame on their record.

trainers and refs sometimes have to stop their fighter because their fighter is too brave.

boxers should have the option of stopping the fight when the ref and their own corner are too ******.
