Hurtado Outlasts Garnica; Solis Blitzes Alexander In One

    By Jake Donovan -
For the second time in a span of just over two months, former 140 lb. titlist Diosbelys Hurtado headlined a card airing live on Telemundo from the Miccousukee Resort in Miami, Florida.

For the second time in just over two months, Hurtado bored audiences to tears, looking every bit his 36 years of age as he struggled to a decision win in the evening’s main event.

His latest victim is used up Mexican journeyman Manuel Garnica, as Hurtado boxed his way to a comfortable unanimous decision in a fight devoid of entertainment value. [details]

What the hell is Hurtado doing still fighting? That dude is like the Cuban version of Frankie Randall. Maybe there needs to be a fight between those two to see who is more washed up.

He looked to be in pretty good shape to be honest, his boxrec claims he is only 36 but that seems a little young. This was his second fight in a couple months, he didn't look terrible I think he can be a gatekeeper.

Yeah, but when I read the headlines it said that he boxed a cautious fight and looked every bit of his age. I think he is done. That was too bad for him that he got caught with that barrage by Pernell Whitaker back in the day. He was beating Sweet Pea at his own game until that happened. Wonder if his chin was really that weak or maybe Whitaker just knew he had to sit down on his punches for a change.

Well Hurtado was always a cautious fighter so he just seemed to be what he always was. I do not think he can make any real noise in the division, but I do think he is good enough (even at this stage) to test if a prospect can make any noise in the division.
