This is an easy fight for Miguel.

Miguel should win by a large UD probably 9 round to 3 or even by a late stoppage. Clottey isn't getting any better and you can argue that he peaked years ago. Against a worn out Zab he was still getting hit and Judah who has speed was looking pretty speedy. Miguel is much more durable than Zab and will not fold to pressure. Miguel also hits harder than Zab and will keep Clottey to a distance and slow his work rate down even more than it already is. I expect Clottey to average less than 50 punches per round and landing at maybe a 20% clip. Clottey will make Miguel look like the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson out there, sticking and moving. Body shots should be easy to get through also since Clotteys guard is always up and once that body is hit his head will fall. Its going to be a long ass night for Joshua.

The whole thing about the Zab fight that worried me for Clottey was that Zab most effective work was to the body (especially after first couple rounds). I think that Cotto is pound on that long torso of Clottey, I do not really see how Clottey is going to stop that without opening up his head to shots. I think Clottey will do ok early but will fade for Cotto to dominate as the fight wares on.

My thinking implies two things that Cotto is still the Cotto we remember before the Margarito fight (or atleast close enough) and that Clottey does not spur himself to some higher level in this fight because of the importence of this fight he might be able to push himself to something beyond what I think he is capable of.

I love betting on dogs though, I could get +325 on Clottey and am not even thinking about laying money on him.

We agree as far as who will win this fight but i think there a few things you've overlooked.

Clottey isnt going to just lay down for cotto because thats what the odds tell him he's going to do. Clottey isnt the best fighter cotto has ever faced but he's far from the easiest as well.

I expect a much more competitive fight with cotto winning it either on points in the later parts of the fight or by possible (10th round and beyond) KO/TKO.

I expect cotto to win 8 rounds to 4 on points or by late KO/TKO (more than likely either because of or built up abuse from body shots.

Expect cotto to work the body early and often.

Cotto is the stronger fighter and the more seasoned boxer.

For clottey to have a chance to win he's going to need to effectively pressure cotto because i believe if it turns into a pure boxing match cotto has the clear advantage...clottey will need to effectively pressure cotto (ie. knowing when to get inside and when to get outside) and he's going to need good defense.

I expect clottey to give cotto a legit fight...

i like cotto to win but this is far from an easy fight. clottey is a good defensive fighter who throws hard punches. although he is not a ko puncher he does hit hard and hes real hungry for the win
