John Murray Loses His Title on The Scales

British lightweight champion John Murray has been stripped of his title after failing to make weight for Saturday’s encounter with Scott Lawton. A confusing afternoon weigh in saw Murray having to take to the scales twice, coming in 0.08 kilos (0.1 lb) over the limit on the second, and final, attempt at making the weight. [details]

Thats pretty ridiculous not letting him off 0.01lbs!

I have a feeling he's been penalised more for showing up late and having them all on a bit. Murray definitely did not need anymore inactivity.

I would blame Hennessey aswell for not informing him of the weigh in time

It was 1/10 of a kilogram and they still stripped him.

If he had waxed all of his body hair and cut his nails, he would of made weight.

I always get the impression john murray can't be 'bothered'. I have seen him in some lack lusture performances and regardless of inactivity he is a young guy and he should be able to make weight. I question his dedication. I wouldn't be surprised if lawton beats him!

I dont feel sorry for him, there are rules in place and it doesnt matter if he was over by just 0.1Ib, He didnt make weight and was rightly stripped, Some of our british boxers need to start learning how to be more proffesional when not fighting by keeping their weight down.

If he wasnt a pro then i can excuse him but Frankie Gavin did the same at the olympics and this has to stop.

For people saying 'it's only 0.01lb'/they should've let him off....IMO rules are rules, no matter how big or small the *i cant think of a word to put here, but i'm sure you know what i mean* is.
