yes i agree, that's exactly my point...."hit and not get hit" intelligent fighters usually, to me at least, arent that entertaining.... its nothing against their skill, its usually exceptional, but its like watching an amazing prospect fight his first fight against the biggest chump in town... boring.. one sided... ya know?Comment

You would say that.I honestly think DLH is one of the smartest boxers ever. If you follow his career, he made subtle changes in his style to out think his opponents.
JMM also comes to mind but I think that has a lot to do with Nacho as well. He pays so much attention to detail it's crazy...
Oscar is a donkey in the ring..
Sr taught him DEFENSE...something he never learned..
If not for Mayweather Sr....Oscar would be walking on the back of his heels with a face full of scar tissue.
Floyd Sr made Oscar a much better fighter..Nacho got him KTFO by Fanny Pac.Comment

I agree with everyone of them except Roy Jones Jr. I don't think he's a smart fighter, just an incredibly gifted one. He has depended on his athletic ability for so long that when it started to deteriorate, he got knocked out.
I would put Bernard Hopkins in that category though, great defensive fighter and can change his style to frustrate any fighter.Comment

Floyd Sr. has to be one of the most overrated trainers ever
under Sr., Oscar got hit way more than he should've against Gatti and Vargas. De La Hoya trying out the shoulder roll was a horrible idea.
I think he was better off defensively when he was trying to emulate Miguel Canto when he was trained under AlcazarComment
