Every top fighter has to be adaptable. Some do it better than others but normally most of them know how to switch up.

All decent fighters are able to adapt to a certain extent. While it might not be a gigantic change, most of them can switch between boxing and brawling, southpaw and orthodox, moving in, staying out, etc.

A lot of their larger tactical game plan changes are made in training camp. That's why you always here their trainers yelling at them to stick to the plan. They watch footage of the other fighter and come prepared for that fighter. If you do you job right (Pacquiao v Hatton) you shouldn't need to change too much once you step into the ring.

Calzaghe, Floyd, Cotto(I don't count the margarito fight because no one knows what the hell was up), Mosley, Barrera, Marquez, are some of the best to adapt to fighters. Most of the time fighters need to adapt and if they can't they will end up losing the fight.

If one boxer is changing and the other one isn't then you will get the same results as Mayweather - Hatton.
