I just find it kinda lame that they try to use sentimental emotion to try to garner people into watching.
Definitely, i think they started doing it more after the success of the first season of The Contender.

Seems like a nice guy though, gonna watch a couple of his fights.

But lemme ask you this, why is it such a terrible thing to grow up without parents. I'm pretty sure if you took an American poll survey, half the kids wouldn't want their parents around.

Yeah sure it's tough out there in the concrete jungle, but without parents you can pretty much do whatever the fcuk you want. I'm not falling for the sad story, instead i'm commending Ortiz for growing up without parents and making it this far.

I always enjoyed his interviews he has such a funny voice and facial expression. Ill be rooting for Ortiz along with Khan. Two great prospects for the future.

I couldn't agree more. I think it's all bull**** to try and get the fans to follow this kid. I grew up with kids in the barrio that mothers were murdered, fathers in prison and they had to live inthe streets. Where is there story????

No diss to Ortiz, I love the kid as a fighter but everyone has their bones to bare if you know what I mean.

****, my father left us and then i saw my mother die right in front of my face when I was 8.....but I still know that people in this world have it 100X worse than I do.

I'm glad the kid is doing well but his story is nothing new or special in this world we live in.

I hope to watch Ortiz have a long, great career. (Think he was in the corner of the cat who won the main event on Fight Night Club last night during the intros.)

Vic has got serious skills (and that Taco Bell shout-out he gave on HBO after his last fight was pretty funny.)

I like him in the ring, but I haven't seen many interviews with him. I was surprised how well spoken he was. That's where you get a mega cross-over superstar appeal from. Boxers who can talk with their fists AND keep your attention with their mouths. Let Ortiz win a few more good fights and then, I say, throw him around on the media-circuit to talk shows or whoever else will book him. He'll make you want to watch him fight with stories like that.

When I first heard about Ortiz they told me was being hyped up by GBP to become the next generation's DLH. When I heard his story I was suprised by how friendly and composed he is under the circumstances he's been living in. Ortiz is something special, it is likely kids with an upbringing like his are to fit their parents' shoes, but he seems to be driven by becoming exactly the opposite

Aside from that Ortiz is a good fighter and I do think he's ready for that title shot.
