    Miguel Cotto picked Joe

Welterweight champion Miguel Cotto, announced Thursday that Mexican Joe Chavez will be his new cutman.

Cotto made the announcement in New York, shortly before he met with Chavez's team.

"Chavez was cutman for great fighters such as Oscar de la Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, James Toney, and Vernon Forrest and is among the top five of the world," said Father Miguel Cotto in a telephone interview with the AP from New York.

"This afternoon (Thursday) we will meet to match some details of the agreement, but it is official that he will be in the corner of Miguel on Saturday. "Then we will continue talks for future fights," he added.

Cotto (33-1, 27 knock outs) will defend his title against the Ghanaian Joshua Clottey (35-2, 20 knock outs) at Madison Square Garden.

"Miguel is happy, smiling, quiet, working to maintain weight. The work that had to do was already ... just waiting for the remaining days of the fight, "said his father.
