Some of Arum's shows are also HBO-distributed but independently produced (like Diaz-Morales, for example), but the Latin Fury cards are all on his dime.

If there's a criticism to be made, it's that for the budget he received from VERSUS, that's where the Latin Fury series really should've landed. There's no question that he screwed the pooch for the duration of the two years in which he was VERSUS' sole boxing provider.

That aside, Arum's one of the few who will put on a show featuring notable fighters without waiting on a network to ante up. Golden Boy rarely if ever makes a move without someone else's money. Ditto for Shaw.

Main Events also deserves credit for putting on shows first, seeking television outlets later.

Trying to figure out how this discussion went from Wlad-Chagaev and ESPN Classic to Top Rank/Golden Boy... but anyway there you have it.
You sound like your pretty knowledgeable when it comes to the business side of boxing. Are you an insider?..

No, but one of Team Brewster's members posts here. His name is "The Buzz." I love to him get into the ring with Haye...

Well yes but Arum has been doing his independent PPV's for awhile now, I would say it has hurt more then helped. Putting the fights on PPV is also lazier move then trying to find a network to air the fights and still making a profit while still growing the sport. I give credit to main events for getting that network deal a few years back on NBC, I wish the promoters would keep pushing for that instead of trying to make the quick buck.

For all the **** Golden Boy gets I think in the future they will secure a network deal and they have also stated that the club show series will continue even without Versus, that's a great thing considering it will be streamed live for free online.

Now if all fights were aired on ESPN, boxing would return to its glory days.

are they going to repeat the brilliant move of muting out the crowd again like with Klitschko-Gomez? Cause if theres one thing that makes a heavyweight fight more exciting its having no crowd noise and getting to hear nothing but Teddy Atlas waxing poetic the entire fight. Will they also talk over, mute the music, and cut out parts of the great entrances they always have in Germany? yeah im not really excited anytime ESPN gets a big fight.
