Can't compare other professional sports to professional fighters....you can't "DUCK" playing against another team.....there are not contracts to sign in Basketball/Baseball/Football/Hockey, you sign a contract, are paid the money and you go out there and perform....how many athletes in those sports do you hear proclaiming to "BE THE BEST EVER"...Jordan NEVER once uttered those words from HIS mouth...his teamates, basketball fans and writers unanimously gave him that crown...How many fellow fighters, boxing fans (not huggers), writers crown Floyd Jr. as "BEST EVER"?....."BEST OF THIS GENERATION"...maybe....but hell no to Best Ever.
The reason so many people HATE on Floyd is because of his mouth...people don't deny the skills...but when you are as talented and gifted as he is...you should be a little more respectful to your obligations and to the fans that made you who you are...without the fans...any athlete would be NOTHING. Who are the ones who pay to see you perform? Who are the ones who money goes into your pocket? Who are the ones whos opinions matter at the end of the day? You fight for what Glory? Who in the end cements your "status"...the fans....we are the ones who will be talking about you around the water coolers at work, at lunch, at home, to friends and family.....
I use to love the **** out of Floyd..but after the Baldomir fight.....something happened to him...it might be the people he has in his entourage....I don't know...
About Shane "ducking" Floyd..... Maybe he called out Shane knowing he would NOT get the fight....a'la everyone and their mama calling out Pacquiao (Darchinyan, Katsidis, Mosley, Margocheato, Campbell...on and on)...for media attention. So he calls out Mosley..and fights Baldomir....for money? (325K PPV buys = $16.3 mil)...answer is...easy target to "outbox" for the belts...cuz he sure as hell didn't try to finish him off.
Back to calling out Mosley....funny how the timing of him "calling out" Mosley just happens to be the time that he becomes this "bad guy" after fighting Baldomir....maybe this is when he see that "being a mouth really pays off"........TO EACH THEIR OWN.
