If you ever pay attention to the Mayweather/brucelus fight, Mayweather is staring Cotto down between rounds. Go watch it.

At this point, with floyd holding no actual title, i really dont hold him to much of a standard, right now is just about legacy and perception, when he was the welterweight champ, i think i felt he should have continued after the hatton fight. the fact that he withdrew that title to let other welters take up the challange is a testament to where his mind probably was at the time. Now that hes back agaisnt marquez and is hearing it negatively from the media left and right, unlike alot of you, i sincerely feel he know he has to compete against the fan favs against him. Regardless, floyd only really spent a couple of years in the division and withdrew about a year and a half after he got in it, which is why for me personally, it wasnt that big of a deal. The idea that he NEVER challanged himself or that he NEVER took on good competition EVER, all you have to do is look at some of the post before the de la hoya fight, or the hatton fight and you get how consensus changes around here real quick.

they did, and i remember when it was discussed and promptly shot down. More or less the cotto thing didint really begin until after he fought mosley and mayweather knocked out hatton. that hype has only been a year and a half, but back in 04/05, i seriously thought the fight would happen because cotto was one of the prime beltholders along with gatti and hatton. there is a reason why mayweather was basically gunning for gatti, it was because tszyu and hatton were tied up, and cottos team was unwilling.
