the Danger that Mayorga brings, is that he throws wild awkward punches (with good power) from non-textbook angles.
Some boxers only spare with textbook fighters, so when they get a wild swinging awkward fighter (with a good chin) that can punch. it sometime become a harder fight than they expected.
no way...Cotto and Margs would smoke him. He wilts under pressure...look at the ODH fight. The forrest fights were some kind of weird cosmic mismatch that only happens once in a lifetime. Seriously, Vernon should have dusted Mayorga. but he didnt...
The Mayorga that fought Forrest, would have a live chance against any top WW,except probably Margarito and Clottey, just picked those 2 because Margarito,I believe, would win a blow for blow throwdown, and Clottey is just bigger and tougher and Mayorgas wildness wouldnt stand to Clottey's systematic style!!!!

mayorga's best days were behind him when he faced DLH
however, i think DLH still beats a "prime" mayorga
Great thread, someone finally talking about El Matador.
Mayorga would beat Vernon anyday of the week, even though on paper, Vernon is the better man. That's the beauty of boxing.
Mayorga at 147, with a good trainer and discipline, would have torn up most of the WW out there.
I mean, even shot, he gave a HARD HARD time to Chain Muesli. Plus he did beat up Vargas. I would have love to see Mayorga vs Mayweather.
