Abner Mares To See Action on Mayweather-Marquez

Bantamweight prospect Abner Mares (18-0, 11KOs) will see action on the undercard to Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mares recently signed up with manager Frank Espinoza, who brought Israel Vazquez, Martin Castillo and Enrique Sanchez to world titles among others. [details]

At least he's back to being active after his injury. Looking forward to seeing him, the undercard looks pretty good, first Judah then Winky could be on it and now Mares. Who's training him?

Someone said on here ****m Richardson might be his trainer, I wanna see that happen. Even Mayweather Sr would be interesting in Mares' corner.

actually mayweather sr was his trainer at beginning of career, but mares didn't like that shoulder rolling thing, and i think berinstain did a good job,but mayweather said he thought even though mares left him,he would be champ...i would like to see rudy perez as trainer

I think this kid has got a bright future as long as his eye is okay. I know he had a problem with that, but what I want to know is was it as serious as Izzy's eye problem? I don't mind up and coming fighters like these being on the PPV card, but hopefully they will set him up with a better opponent than the one he blew out on the Marquez-Pacquiao 2 undercard.

I hope he is on the televised part of the card, it is good to see him back in the ring though I think he has a good future.

Snap, for some reason, I already thought he was on the undercard. One of this reasons I was happy to buy the fight. I wonder where I got that notion?

I am not excited about Winky Wright being on this undercard at all. You know they won't throw him in with a competitive opponent and I think I'll end up plucking my eyeballs out having to sit through watching his earmuff style and end up missing the main event. All because of Winky.
