I'd have to say that Brown was possibly even better than Johnson, despite Johnson being one of my favorites and having some big names on his resume. Unfortunately Brown is mostly known for punching in his sleep after being KO'd by Pettaway while past his true prime but that just shows what a warrior he was...

I believe he was pound for pound ranked until McGirt defeated him and ended his 3 year welterweight reign which included 8 title defenses and unification of the IBF and WBC titles. He then went up in weight, knocked out Terry Norris in 4 rounds and later worked his way to two unsuccessful middleweight title shots.

If Johnson manages to beat Dawson in their rematch though, that would be huge for him.

Yo, your telling me Lennox fought for Canada in the Olympics?

          I stand corrected.

Yeah often regarded as the best performance of McGirt's career....rightfully so too. Buddy gave another great one when he exacted revenge on Frank Warren in their second fight too. Such an underrated fight.

            The Pettway shot was savage.

I guess the Starling fight was something of a 'boy vs. man' situation too.
The funny thing is that McGirt outboxed Brown rather easily while Meldrick Taylor dominated McGirt, but I'd give Brown a decent chance of winning against Taylor.

Brown also scored a come from behind KO of his mate Maurice Blocker.

Yeah, Brown would possibly be too big for Mel, although Mel did manage to beat another big, rugged Welterweight in Aaron Davis.

I would have liked to see Davis/Brown in their primes. Too bad their fight happened when both guys were well past it.

Yeah Buddy was a good fighter.

Taylor was just too quick for Buddy imo.

He gave Pea a good fight 1st time around but got dominated second time.
