Tranquilo y relajado, pero ansioso de volver a su casa, el campeón boricua, Miguel Cotto, reanudó ayer en ‘La Ciudad de los Rascacielos’ su trabajo de preparación con miras a la defensa titular de este sábado 13 de junio ante el africano Joshua Clottey en el Madison Square Garden.
Relax and at ease, but anxious to get back home, the "Boricua" champion,Miguel Cotto, resume yesterday on the big apple his work and preparation looking forward to his title defense this coming Saturday June 13 against the African Joshua Clottey.
Tampoco expresó reparos con la selección de oficiales, encabezados por el árbitro Arthur Mercante, hijo, según informes de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB).

"I spend time training and resting,just more of the same,but we are very good, thanks to God", He told endi after finishing a brief light training session, with 8 rounds to the mits, a couple of minutes of jump rope and routine stretching on the Trinity Boxing Club, lower Manhattan.
“El ánimo está muy bien, sólo esperando que llegue el pesaje el viernes, el sábado el combate y el lunes a irme pa' casa porque extraño mucho mi casa”, añadió el monarca welter de la OMB.
"The mood is just right,just waiting for the weight in on Friday, the fight on Saturday and Monday directly home because I missed a hole lot my home" added the OMB champion.
‘Junito’ Cotto, quien hará la primera defensa del título que obtuvo en febrero pasado por nocaut sobre el británico Michael Jennings en Atlantic City, hizo el grueso de su preparación acuartelado en Tampa, Florida, bajo la supervisión de su nuevo entrenador, Joe Santiago, tras la violenta ruptura en abril pasado con su tío y ex técnico, Evangelista Cotto.
'Junito' Cotto, who will defend his title for the first time since he won it this past February by KO Britain Michale Jennings on MSG,did the bulk of training on Tampa,Florida,under the supervision of new trainer Joe Santiago,after the violent rupture this past April with his uncle/trainer Evangelista Cotto.
“Hacía tiempito que Miguel no estaba en un peso como el que tiene ahora a una semana de la pelea”, puntualizó Santiago, al precisar que la jornada de ayer también incluyó una carrera matutina de unos 40 minutos desde su hotel de hospedaje en Manhattan hasta el cercano Central Park. “Todo es para mantener la condición, porque en el peso estamos muy bien”, agregó.
"Is been a while since Miguel has been on this kind of weight like he is right now a week away from the fight", said Santiago, adding that the yestarday training session also included a 40 minute run from his hotel to central park."Everything is to keep the condition because on the weight we are fine",added.
La alimentación, a su vez, se ha hecho en la hospedería con una dieta baja en calorías y de frutas. Cotto y su séquito, además, hicieron una visita a las oficinas de la compañía Everlast de artículos deportivos, donde recibió las zapatillas que utilizará en la pelea, a ser transmitida por la cadena de cable HBO.
The nutrition, by the way, has been taking care of at the hotel with a low calorie diet and fruits. Cotto and his entourage, also, made a visit to the Everlast headquarters,where he received the shoes he will wear for the fight,it will be televised by HBO.
Trascendió, por otro lado, que los jueces para el pleito serán Don Trella y John McKaie, de Nueva York, junto a Tom Miller, de Ohio. Richard De Cuir, ex comisionado de California y actual vicepresidente de Norteamérica de la OMB, actuará de supervisor. “Ellos tienen que hacer su trabajo, y yo hago el mío”, fue la única reacción de Cotto ante la selección de los oficiales.
The judges for the event will be: Don Trella y John McKaie,from Nueva York & Tom Miller from Ohio,Richard De Cuir who is ex commissioner of California and actual vice president of the OMB, he also will act as supervisor."They have a work to do and I have mine", it was Cotto's only reaction about the officials.
Como parte de la cartelera, en un pleito que no irá en la transmisión de HBO pero que será vista en la Isla a través de Direct TV en el canal 161, el invicto campeón minimosca de la OMB, el guaynabeño Iván ‘Iron Boy’ Calderón, pondrá en juego su corona ante el filipino Rodel Mayol.

De acuerdo a los informes del organismo, Benji Esteves fungirá de árbitro, y como jueces estarán Larry Hazzard, hijo, Steve Weisfeld y Tom Schreck, junto al boricua Luis Batista Salas de supervisor.
