I'm the biggest Ricky Hatton fan and was very worried by the scenes following the Pacquiou KO, I really feared a Michael Watson or Gerald McClellan situation. In his younger days his ability to absorb a punch was amazing, he shrugged off some huge punches from Eamon Magee, Vince Philips, Kostya Tszyu and Luis Collazo.

But after the Mayweather fight his chin never seemed to be what it once was, it looked pretty ropey against a much lighter puncher Lascano and wasn't tested by the feather fisted Malignaggi. The Pacquiou that beat Hatton would give Mayweather an amazing fight though! I wouldn't try and pick a winner.

I'd rather see Ricky retire, become a promoter, colour commentator or even host talk shows while he has his faculties. He doesn't need to trade punches with the heavy handed Katsidis in Manchester, the fans that really care for Ricky wouldn't want to see him take such a risk in a final Manchester show. He has a great family, millions in the bank and a stunning fiancee who clearly loves him to bits!

Hatton is damaged goods,he was being clipped in training before the Pacquio fight and in the Lazcano fight. He was a good boxer before he met Mayweather but after that he was nothing anymore.Worse still after the Pacquio fight. His next fight he will get killed in the ring in an attempt to go out on a win.

He just has to face facts that he has nothing to prove anymore,we know what he can do and what he cant do.We do not want another Mahommed Ali.He might choose a bum and that bum will knock him out so he should just quit.

I would disagree that he went downhill fast, he hasn't seemed the same fighter since the Tszyu fight. He's had 8 fights since then and I'm not sure I've been that impressed with any of them, arguably Malignaggi though that was an easy fight. He looked poor against Maussa, was nearly knocked out in his next fight against Collazo and stunk the joint out against Urango. He did produce a good stoppage against Castillo but I'd question what Castillo brought to the table in that fight.

Fair enough I can see how Witter would be irritating if you were in Hatton's position but all the garbage Hatton has talked to avoid a fight has very much turned me off him as a fighter. I'd love for the long-awaited showdown to finally happen but I don't think Hatton's pride could take the risk of losing to Witter, and that is a very real risk particularly now at the end of his career.

Everyone knows he is done but he could fight my granny and still sell out on a farewell fight, to repay the fans and to leave on a win.

I wouldnt mess with Khan, Witter or even Katsidis as has been mooted if i was him, a non puncher with little skill is what he needs, he could fight Gavin Rees for example

Hatton could sell out sitting there and reading a book but surely would he consider that to be a win.I think he had a farewell when he fought Manny,he tried his best and came short but its his heart that fans respect him for. After the Mayweather fight he blamed the referee but after Pacquio what can he say.He knew he was finished when he was getting battered by the Cuban in sparring.

The fire is gone now,he will be like Hamed just fade without announcing his retirement. If people who are called his fans still want to see him in the ring then they are not fans, his fans ought to think about his future.
