someone explain the physics of a punch in boxing...

do fighters dig there heels into the ground when throwing?

i know baseball pitchers turn there bodies into rubberbands in a sense that they get there entire body into the pitch. it's kinetic.

are fighters supposed to **** there arm back?

    is it different for everyone?

**** im pretty sure that anybody that could scientifically answer that question is not dumb enough to spend his time posting here, or wondering about our concerns aout this sport. but it's pretty ****ing obvious that when you punch the best, you gotta have a nice centered balance, and use the energy frrom your legs up. try doing it yourself and see.

Fist goes forward then hits you in the face.

Your legs have a lot to do with it. For example, if you are throwing a right hand from the orthodox position, you need to extend your right leg to gain leverage. Basic stuff, but if you really want to know, you should watch some videos or head to a boxing gym.

A lot of power comes from the legs, but it really is about making all your muscles work together to get the maximum effect.

If you hit a human being in the right spot clean, that is unprepared it only takes 8 pounds of pressure to knock out someone.

If you can turn your body into your punches the correct way you should not need to **** your arm back (****ing the arm back implies arm shoulder and back power only and not comming from the legs), it also allows skillful fighters to see what is comming (and you know what they say it is the punches that you don't see coming that hurt the most, going back to the above point a boxer can take more then an average human if they are prepared, but a boxer who does not see a punch comming is all to human).

Legs, waist, shoulders, speed, and natural strength all make a hard punch.

depends on the style but dig your heels? I dont think so that leaves you too flatfooted. ON YOUR TOES! its in you stepping forward and twisting hips. Hip twistage helps you torque your punch. whether it be a hook or straight. If your talking Jab you wanna snap the end of it more or less than twist

Well sometimes it is good to dig in your heals and really put some steam on your shots, on your toes you can not get max power, it is a trade off though because you can not move well while getting full power on shots.

Some fighters throw jabs as power shots, but yea most fighters use it as more of a range finder/punch to keep another fighter honest or busy then it is bettert to just snap it out there as opposed to planting and putting power on the jab.
