    Ali vs. Norton Trilogy

I recently watch fights 1 and 3. Norton wins the first one no doubt, broke his jaw in the second or third round and kept busting him up the rest of the fight. The 3rd fight I also thought Norton won. I dont think Ali put up enough offense and thought that Norton won it close, so did the commentators and the press row judges. I think maybe even Ali thought he lost because he left the ring immediately after and did not give an interview. I read in an Ali book that it is arguable that Norton won all 3 fights. I have not seen #2, so would anyone who has seen them all please give me your opinions.

i have only seen the first one and i think that Norton did get that fight hands down. I have not seen the next two, but from what i have heard from my older family that watches boxing is that Norton should have won those fights, and that he was robbed. Thats coming from big Ali fans.

I thought Ali won the second although it was also very close. He built an early lead but Norton rallied when Ali seemed to tire. Ali came back and finished strong in the final round.

Ali vs Norton was something that would run as cruiserfight nowadays.

Overweight Ali (Norton-Ali I) lost 9 pounds. Is now 212. Shows you that Ali is merely a blown up cruiser.

round #01 ali misses. norton catches ali a few times. ali tries to pull down norton's to uppercut him. ali has no defense. ali runs away the whole round. ali is typically disgusting.

round #02 ali runs away even more. norton can hardly hit ali, since ali is running backwards all the time and instantly clinches. norton manages to hit ali. ali is typically disgusting.

round #03 ali runs away. ali manages finally to not miss every jab he throws. ali typically misses with swooping jabs.

round #04 ali runs away. norton catches ali with a right, ali clinches. ali places a nice left... and runs away again.

round #05 good left by ali. then some more lefts. good right. ali clinches. best round for ali so far.

round #06 good lefts by norton. then some more. good right/combo by ali. good round for ali.

round #07 ali basically misses with all of his punches. norton hits ali several times including good shots. ali needs to clinch. fatigues.

round #08 ali hits and clinches. clinches some more. norton has good shots. catches ali with a good right in last second. bad round for ali.

round #09 norton shoots a good left-right. several other good lefts and rights including body shots. bad round for ali. but norton is also tired.

round #10 ali a bit more active. good right by ali. good right by norton. good punches by norton. cut under left eye of norton. good left by norton.

round #11 norton get wild. ali is clueless and eats more than he wants. against ropes, clinches again. both men tired. good shots by norton. commentator says "ali is no longer a great fighter". good end of the round for both.

round #12 ali covers norton with punches. norton misses. ali clinches. clinches more. good uppercut by ali. good body shot by norton.

Good that you started this thread. I haven't seen such a boring cruiserfight for some time. Norton delivered a limited fight. Ali was running to Norton's right side but Norton seldomly threw his right punch.

Modern heavies would go through Ali and through Norton within max. 6 rounds.

I don't think you could give Ali more than 2-3 rounds.
