MALIGNAGGI BLASTS MIKE ALVARADO; CALLS OUT JUAN DIAZ
By G. Leon
GL: To what do we owe the honor of this phone call Magic Man? What's the latest and greatest? "I wanted to let all my fans know that they offered me the Juan Diaz before the Alvarado fight dropped out. Obviously I didn't want to do it because I didn't want to fight him in Texas. Now I hear he's going to be fighting on the Mayweather undercard and I would love to fight him on that card if that's the case. If not, I want to hear what kind of offer they're willing to make to fight him in Texas. I don't want to go without a fight this summer. I feel like I've been wasting my time with Alvarado for six months. We were supposed to fight on Cotto-Jennings, then he needed more time so that fell through. Now I wasted my time with a training camp and this fell through. Juan Diaz is a real fighter. He's a top notch fighter and I want to hear what they have to say about fighting him anywhere, including Texas. I don't even know why I wasted my time with that chump Mike Alvarado in the first place. He's a punk. You know how many times I went in there hurt. You suck it up and fight through it. What does he do? He pulls the f**k out because he's a **** man. They should make sure he's got some balls under that skirt he wears."
GL: It seems like you want to tell the Golden Boy people to make DiBella an offer for a Juan Diaz fight.
Paul Malignaggi: "I definitely want to fight Juan Diaz and I was talking to Richard Schaffer at the Mayweather-Marquez press conference. I told him fighting Diaz in Houston wouldn't be the right move with Alvarado coming up. I figured I would take Alvarado out first, but I thought about the Juan Diaz situation and I never even heard an offer from them. Let them put something on the table for me to think about. I've been in the gym, I've been training and I want to fight before the end of the summer. Boxing is exciting to me again, I'm doing new things and I'm basically doing old things, that are new to me again. I want to get in there and show people what I'm about."
GL: When is the earliest we could expect you back in the ring?
PM: "ASAP. Now that the Alvarado fight fell through, I don't what chances there are of me staying on that card. If I can do Juan Diaz on the Mayweather card or in Houston, it doesn't matter. I want a big fight before the end of the summer. I don't belong on off TV undercards. I did that in my last fight to get the dust off. I got that dust off fight and it's time for a big fight against a big time. If you don't fight big fighters you get chumps like Mike Alvarado who hasn't fought anybody, but pulls out of his opportunity. I'm 28 years old and I only want to fight the names that the public wants me to fight."
GL: Closing thoughts?
PM: "Look out for me before the end of the summer. When you see me next time, it's going to be the best you've ever seen me look. Keep your ears pierced and your eyes open, the Magic Man will make a crowning return to the top of the boxing game real soon. I'm sick that I wasted six months of my life for that punk ****ing chump mother****er Mike Alvarado."
