Clarification Please

Is it "lineal" or "linear" title? I've heard the guys at HBO call it linear and other broadcasters call it lineal. What's the reason for this? JAT

Most dictionaries will confirm that 'linear' primaly means 'straight', whereas 'lineal' deals with issues of ancestry. So 'lineal' is correct in regard to boxing.

I have heard it used both ways but I would go with Linear.
