60,000 seats were sold because Wlad was fighting Haye. That arena doesn't sell out if Wlad is fighting anyone else in the Heavyweight division.

    Carry on.

Sure we all know the Limeys are a jingoistic set and are willing to travel to watch their own. But Wlad sells out arenas in Germany and America, with fans who are not his compatriots, on a regular basis.

Edit: you know I love the English, but their rampant nationalism in sporting contexts is undeniable

Americans are as nationalistic, but differently so.

In any case America is irrelevant to the current conversation. If Haye were American he'd be about the twelfth best HW in our country, so there would be little demand for the fight. It's like if Freddy Adu were English, he'd just be another second-division footballer.

not since the ibragimov fight. you think its just luck that wlad took his next 3 fights in germany? he knows that he isn't well received in america and is probably not gonna have another fight in the states again.

That's bull****. Wlad has always alternated between America and Germany. He has expressed interest in fighting Arreola at Staples.

Little kids and teenagers, especially ones who watch a lot of rap videos and have various sorts of inferiority complexes, tend to dislike Wlad. But he is extremely popular with older boxing fans, the ones who have the money to buy tickets and who pay their own HBO bill.

Of course they'd all love to have a popular smiley Yank in their side. It would drastically increase TV revenue and sell tons of jerseys. But the reality is he's a second-division player at the moment. Just like Haye is a second- (or third-) tier fighter. That fight was only ever under demand for one reason.

lol well, I dislike wlad and I listen to heavymetal music, have a very well paying job so I could pay the HBO bill and buy tickets to boxing events but usually go to bars.

I guess your assumptions are all wrong there.
