Reportedly, two-time IBF 154 lbs. champion Cory Spinks enjoyed the exciting HBO fight between Kermit Cintron and Alfredo Angulo, and was purportedly so impressed with Cintron’s victory that he wants to offer the former IBF 147 lbs. champion a shot at his title.
"I think it would be a great match up with myself and Cintron after his big win over Angulo" says Spinks. The Spinks camp feels like Spinks vs. Cintron would be a lot more attractive than a Sergio Martinez vs. Cintron rematch.
The 31-year-old southpaw Spinks (37-5, 11 KOs), from St. Louis, MO, won the IBF 154 lbs. title for the second time in his most recent bout, on April 24 – a points win over Deandra Latimore to claim the then-vacant belt.
Reading, PA’s Cintron (31-2-1, 27 KOs), by way of Carolinas, Puerto Rico, fought a draw with Martinez in a bout prior to last Saturday’s win over previously undefeated Angulo. The 29-year-old Cintron is currently rated #4 WBO and #9 WBC.
