Hey all, I was wondering if your standard boxing techniques are useful for your average street fight. Now I'm not planning on going out and picking a fight or anything, I'm just wondering how training boxing in an amateur setting would help a person defend himself should the need ever arise.
Could anyone with any experience, or anyone with an opinion, say how useful (or worthless) these techniques are in a real fight?:
- Keeping your hands up
- Head movement
- Use of the jab
- Counterpunching (and good defense in general)
- Feints
- Foot movement
Feel free to add anything I didn't mention that you feel is useful.
Seems like most n00bs you see fighting on the street just throw wide hooks until they get lucky or KTFO. I know that most fights end up on the ground but maybe if you caught them coming in...
