Why has khan fought limited domestic opposition.........

The point is (imo) we have better domestic fighters than Khan..........but they are forced to climb ranks the hard way. Thats not fair.......now ask yourself why he has been given a boost up the ranking?

Murry, Meeger, thaxton, fewkes, Gethin or stewart .....and others.........were/are all great domestic challenges to khan.....why has he fought none of them? he had been given a 'get out of jail free card'

Instead he fights b class domestic fighters......ko'd by a nobody in prescot.....circus against an old barrera.....now a title shot.....its BS guys...

Critised for not facing someone from his own size who can punch, he took on an unknown and got smashed unconscious against the first proper lightweight with power inside 60 seconds.

It's seems that the hype about Khan even now still lives on if you really believe this kid can hang with the best this country has? He can't take a punch whatsoever and Murray, Gethin & Thaxton can punch.

This is why people don't like him.........not because of race (as suggested in previous posts) ...although i do belive his race is a big reason why he has been elevated in Britain and the world of boxing...and that leaves a bad taste.

Now he is ducking world class lightweights and moving to junior welter fighting crappy Kotelnik.......He doesn't deserve a shot at any world title....now talk of Hatton......he does not deserve the pay day....

Kotelnik crap? Not many people think that. He is a good boxer and better than Murray and Thaxton.

The simple fact is, Murray and Thaxton are terrible and do not have the name or the money behind them to warrant a fight with Khan. While Khan will have Kotelnik, Barrera, and Prescott on his resume after 22 fights, after 26 Murray only has Lee Meager, and Lee McAllister. It seems that it is Murray and not Khan who needs to step up.

Oh and for Murrays 27th fight he is fighting Scott Lawton. This is the guy Khan KO'd in 4 rounds, in only his 14th fight.

I agree its ridiculous that he hasn't faced any of the top British lightweights, all the moreso given that he is the self-proclaimed best who supposedly would have smashed these guys from day 1. But boxing is not a fair sport, its all about fooling the casual fans and raking the money. Khan generates lots of it which means he/FW can pick and choose his fights as he pleases.

I think its easy to go into overdrive criticising Khan's choice of opposition because of the disrespect he has shown to the other top lightweights in the country. It reminds me of the Audley Harrison saga after proclaiming that he was going to be able to beat Danny Williams after 5 fights. Must have been infuriating for the top guys in the country if even I felt slightly bitter with all the trash talking & money he was getting on ITV whilst showing no willingness to prove he was the best in the country, or even the best in the North West.

To be honest, the only reason Murray and the like want a fight with Khan is for the money. If they had real heart they would step up and fight other good lightweights without the need to call Khan out every 5 minutes and proclaim Khan is ducking them.

Khan is just moving on to bigger and better things. He had a head start because he won silver in the olympics and thus has the name and talent to skip the domestic level and fight on the world stage. That is how boxing works. Instead of calling Khan out, Murray, Thaxton and all other wannabes should concentrate on their own careers. Maybe fight a decent boxer once in a while.

At this stage, a domestic fight apart from Witter and Hatton would be a step backwards for Khan.

khan has fought enough domestic rival and him fighting murray would be a backward step, kotelnik is a world champion and a better fighter than murray and he brings more to the table, moreover hatton didnt fight is biggest rival in witter and he still went on to do well for himself.

Khan has the offensive arsenal of a guy with 30+ fights and the defence of a kid coming out of the amateurs.

Kotelnik is a decent fight for him. Wonder what'll happen if he loses though

i used to back khan alot especially up until his 16/17 fight. up until then i thought any criticsm was unfair but lately his actions have rally began to annoy me:

firstly he seems in denial of the fact that he is chinny and comes out with excuses like 'i was caught cold' or it was a 'flash KD' etc - its obvious to all the world and his promoter that khan has the punch resistance of a bantamweight

the main problems that people have with khan are strongly linked with warren. warren has carefully manouvered his fighter into a very privileged position, through marketing, banking in on the athens success and in particular careful matchmaking etc.

careful matchmaking can be seen in khan taking in skilled, tough but ultimately soft punching blown up FW's or LW's. the consequnce of this careful matchmkaing are:

                  1) not facing the best in britian - theres no doubt imo that he has avoided fighting thaxtonand especially murray and yet he has the nerve to turn around and say im above this level now

                  2) hes ranked in the top 10 and yet he hasn't actually beat a good genuine LW contender

kotelnik is a good fighter but again he is tailor made for khan

my heart really goes out to murray who has found it especially hard, i think hes also promoted by khan and warren knows he can't afford to let khan lose, khan is his cash cow, his investment.

for now murray will have to be content with fighting relatively fodder competition
