good read thanks! say what you want about floyd fighting Baldo. Baldo WAS THE LINEAL CHAMPION! what that means kids, is that Baldo was the "man" in that division. Simple really. While he might not have been the toughest opponent in the division, I repeat HE WAS THE LINEAL CHAMPION! If you can't understand what this means then you shouldn't be on a boxing forum. Thanks for playing.

floyd's not a ducker, but he hasn't fought the absolute best competition either for whatever reason.

lineal means he beat the man, that beat the man, that beat the man on down the line. I don't feel like tracing it completely down for you I figured you already knew what this meant. Fact remains that Floyd beat the lineal champion hence he himself became the lineal WW champion. Again, this doesn't mean that it was the toughest fight out there, but when your coming for belts and $ that was the fight that made the most sense. Whether or not you want to accept it, Carlos Baldomir was the champion and #1 in the division whenever Floyd fought him.

no, lineal championships count for something. anything can happen in boxing, hence baldomir was the lineal champ.

Quite true. Does someone have to pull out all the records of the top fighters to see if they really fought the very best of their division?

Can't say it any clearer than that.
