margarita used plaster which = cheating therefore cotto was never really beaten in a fair boxing match in his prime and should still have his zeroPrime when beaten:
Sugar Ray Robinson (Jake Lamotta)
Max Baer (Cinderella Man)
Muhammad Ali (Joe Frazier 1)
George Foreman (Ali)
Mike Tyson (in his prime after Spinks win)
Alexis Arguello (Aaron Pryor)
Thomas Hearsn (Hagler)
Roberto Duran
Marvin Hagler (Sugar Ray Leonard)
Micheal Spinks (Tyson)
Miguel Cotto (Margarito)
micheal spinks was at his best at light heavyweight
and alot of people say ray robinson was still not prime when he lost of lamotta

True. I was thinking about this as well...which is why I had the idea of the point system.
So I guess Louis could be in his prime against Schmeling. He wasn't trained to peak but he was still winning and good. He wasn't Champion yet, and was still quite young, and that loss did make him a complete fighter as far as understanding that you have to be prepared Mentally and Physically for a fight which helped him after since he went many years without losing again......but overall, he was still good enough to be rated very highly. Maybe it wasn't Joe at his absolute peak of his powers but we could probably put him in his prime. It depends how we want to work it.
But how about Tyson since he was brought up?
Tyson is the case that gets talked about a lot. Still young when he lost to Douglas (even though everybody ages different). But, the key figure in his life that helped make him a unified Champion, Kevin Rooney, was no longer with him. By the time he got to Douglas, his skills were on the decline from not training in that system properly, inactivity, and no game-plan which was made up from Rooney. Is that enough of a difference to say it was past prime or would we put him in his prime but say he was no longer at his best...which in a way is past prime especially given he never recaptured what he was.
A little bit confused how we want to view itLast edited by Benny Leonard; 06-01-2009, 01:05 PM.Comment
