A goodly portion of the reason that fans **** on their favourite boxers when they lose is that they often feel let down, disappointed, or embarrassed. I can't tell you how many people I know who have turned tail on Pavlik, Hatton and Barrera. This case is especially serious with the latter fighter, since he's an absolute legend in this sport. The point is that people don't like to be wrong, and it doesn't matter who you are. It just makes a person feel better sometimes when he convinces himself that his faith was simply misplaced rather than the fighter for whom he was pulling is simply inferior to the victor.

Larry, if you could have Mayweather beat anyone in the 140-160ish weight class who would you want him to beat? Yeah, you can beat Pac but everyone will laugh and say hes little. If you beat Cotto you will get more praise.

I already did. Its in our blood as human beings to always root for the very best. We like to be the top dog and we like to root for the top dogs. Humans are predators and always want to one up the next guy and have a competitive nature in being the best.
