    Why Cant Floyd Gain Weight?

No trolling. Serious topic. I really want to know what people think and what could he do to gain some.

He was at WW for 2 years and even had 1 fight at SWW but in every fight he came into the ring between 146 & 148 pounds. He's the only guy in boxing who is consistently fighting at his weigh-in weight. People rip him and act like it doesnt matter but that has to matter wether you want to admit it or not. Every boxer puts on weight unless they have made a huge jump up but even when fighters do that, its only for 1 fight. He's campaining at a division where he fights at his weigh-in weight. Some say that Floyd is small and could easily get down to 140 and maybe even LW if he wants while others say that he's not that big but there is no way he can go down in weight because he is all muscle and has no body fat. Others say in fact that he is a big guy. If he is a bigger guy or is all muscle then why cant he add weight? Is he doing it by choice or what? Even at the other divisions he fought since 130 he never gained much weight. He only gained 3 pounds at LW and 4 pounds at 140. Now he's at WW and isnt gaining any. His comeback pics are misleading. One minute it looks like the layoff has helped and he is a bigger guy now but the very next second you look at another pic and he looks like he's going to be 148 max again.

Is he doing something wrong, is he just a small guy, or what? If you think he is all muscle, what does that mean? Other guys have been all muscle but still put on weight after the weigh-in. My opinion is that he's just a small guy that doesnt belong at WW but has the skills to fight there. Others think the total opposite or somewhere in the middle. The JMM fight should tell us better where he's at. 155 would be outstanding, 152 would be very solid, 148 would be dissapointing. If he's 148 then that will look good in terms of fighting guys like JMM & Pac but people are still going to try to act like he's huge anyways. I would rather him be 152 so he can compete at WW without pot shoting or even better 155 where he could have basicaly no fear of size. Ive always said that if he keeps staying small like this then he should hire Mackey Shilstone and see if he could put some weighton him. Its a total different situation then most of Shilstone cases because this is more about after the weigh-in instead of gaining weight for the weigh-in but maybe he could add something. What do you think his problem is or what could he do to add weight. Guys like Pac were putting on 17 pounds at SFW. Clottey has put on 23 pounds supposedly for one fight. Cotto put on 17 at 140 and puts on 12-15 now. You cant act like Floyd putting on 0 pounds is not a big deal, e****ally consdering this is his 4th division. It has to count for something and I think its a big reason for his pot shoting and its why you wont see him do any of that against JMM & Pac

floyd has hit the ceiling as it come to weight divisions.

floyd can beat some 154 and 160 lbers, but he will have to cherry pick. that means avoiding all the fights that matter.

his frame is that of a natural lightweight or super lightweight.

plus floyd is the rare type like bernard that tries to keep his walk around weight the same as his weigh in weight.

You mean fight weight, the same as his walk around weight.

You won't get much of a straight reply on this one.

Heck, even his own dad was never satisfied with Floyd's accomplishments,
          and he trained him himself.

Hopkins may have walked around lighter but thats because he was a big MW that had to walk around lighter to maintain his weight and not be weak. Thats a different situation then Floyd. Hopkins still would put on a nice amount of weight after the weigh-in. He was a bigger guy and thats how he could jump straight to LW and even look like a big LW. Floyd isnt trying to walk around at that weight. It just is what it is. He just wont get bigger

i think if floid went up any higher in weight he'd start losing his speed, that's why he trains hard to stay at 146 - 148

IDK man, I think he rather have more size then speed at this point because he's so fast that he could lose some and still be just as fast as anyone else at WW. He also is the best techniqal guy so he woud still have that. If he had the size to go with it then he would be fine. I just think he moved up mainly to chase Oscar when he shouldve stayed at LW for a long time and just recently moved up to 140 to finish out his career. He couldve had 1 or 2 fights at WW and super WW just to say he got 5 belts but size wise he never belonged at those weights. He was always even the smallest guy at LW and SLW when he was there but yet he kept moving up at a rapid pace like he was some big guy

I think it has more to do with his eating habits as well. As far as weight divisions go. He should probably be JWW if he did what most fighters do now. Floyd pretty much eats whatever he wants, and despite what he has said, he does eat healthy but he never limits his meals or has to starve himself the last few days to shed off those last few pounds. Most fighters that gain 10-20 pounds after weigh in kill themselves to make weight and Floyd could eat before a weigh in and still make weight. Freddie Roach said he could make 140 easy but is lazy. In a way he is right. Not in his work ethic because he trains extremely hard, but he could manage his food intake and cut those pounds before a weigh in but Floyd feels more healthy doing what he does and thats just fighting at his natural weight. His body is naturally a lot smaller than a guy like Mosley or Cotto, although most people that dislike him will say otherwise.
