I agree, Ive always thought all of that stuff was garbage. not entertaining at all. just overused amounts of accents and cursewords without much else.

The best part about Goodfellas was when they killed Tommy, I couldn't stand Tommy. Honestly, I can't believe Tommy even had friends, I'd never hang out with a dude like that.

nah I actually wish that guy had gotten better roles, that was one of the better 'top guy' roles I've seen played in a movie, ever...He just had so much character in the way he portrayed himself.

But as movies, Godfather, Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco etc, I think are all excellent films.

Plus, my favourite tv show of all time is centred around the mafia, The Sopranos.

Anyways, I love that scene! I love Pesci in that film.. it's actually the Billy Batts incident that ends up getting him whacked so brutally..

Mafia in film provides the basis for a tragic character storyline, which is something that many people find hugely fascinating. Characters with power that are unstoppable in pursuing it, and refuse to know their limits, until eventually the power destroys them.

Beyond all that cursing, a lot of these films have something to say, particularly Godfather Part II, which is basically an attack on Capitalist America.
