I guess nevermind the fact that the guy is one of the most talented boxers to ever come along and definatly that we have seen in the last 25 years. I guess that has nothing to do with it right? It has nothing to do with the fact that he's the smartest fighters in the game, one of the fastest, by far the best defensive guy who hardly ever gets hit clean. It has nothing to do with the fact that he's fought at 5 different weight classes, is the only guy in boxing that can throw every punch in the book, is the best at making adjusments, and always has something to say wether good or bad. That has nothing to do with it right?

You guys make it sound like he's some average fighter. There have been a million guys in boxing with an 0 well into there 20's and even 30's but they werent draws or considered great. Most consider Floyd an ATG and a HOF. That has nothing to do with it?
Unfortunately that is what his draw has come to....
I stated in another thread...."It is a dam shame that people are buying Mayweather PPVs in the hopes of seeing him finally lose to a fighter...and that the people who are watching him for his ring generalship and god given talent are the ones in the minority".....I will admit...I use to be one ofthe ones who watched him based on talent alone.....but after the Gatti fight...I have turned to the "dark side" and now fall in the majority of watching him to lose.
I have seen other people commenting..."why isn't Roy Jones Jr. being given **** for all his claims"....well...Roy claimed to be one the greatest "p4p" fighters in the world.....Floyd is claiming that he is the best fighter of our generation...and in some interviews...ever....

I think it's part of the reason, but there are a number of things that make him a draw.

not to mention the fact that the guy is on 24/7 looking like a cyborg in terms of working out. We as hardcore boxing fans already knew that but that was the #1 thing that the mainstream people I talked to raved about. They saw were people were calling him the P4P best and they heard him talk trash but when they saw how he trained, thats what made them really wanted to watch him. Most people with big mouths just talk and dont work that hard but he backs it up in the gym

I was one of those who watched his "pre-fight" training sessions....hitting the mitts over 1000 times in 5 mins, sparring 15-20min rounds for supreme conditioning, jump roping for 10-15 mins, speed bag for 5-10mins....list of unbelieveable accomplishments goes on and on...but the minute he started running his mouth...he became one of those "divas"...or as I like to call guys..."divos". The thing is...he has the talent to back up his talk...unlike most who talk and can't walk the walk....BUT...he is not willing to risk his "0" to prove how great he is.....perfect example....

I think Floyd become a draw from fighting De La Hoya and Hatton and beating them, but what helped draw attention to him during this was hi kinda boasting about his 0, however after this... and after retirement he has become a bigger star and more and more people talk about him everyday, he has been on dancing with the stars and on Wrestle mania, etc. so he is becoming more and more popular.

But the point that quite a lot of people watch to see him lose because he was often ****y in the press conferences and weigh-ins... could mean that if he loses some wont buy his fights as much cause they've seen him lose.

All depends really, I aint sure to be honest... there's a chance it would and it wouldn't, obviously it would affect it a bit... when everyone loses they lose a bit of there drawing ability (unless your De La Hoya), but I aint sure whether it will have a huge affect on how much of a draw he is.

I get what your saying, he seems to have mellowed out a little bit now... I aint sure whether that's only because he is fighting JMM and has respect for him, and against other opponents he might be the bad guy again... but that's something we will have to wait and see about. I hope he fights Pacquiao if he beats JMM convincingly, then Mosley or Cotto (or both), if he was to pull it off in both fights he would have a great resume and nobody would be able to say anything about his legacy or whatever...

So have it my friends.
Mayweather's trash talking and having not been beaten, is what makes him a really good draw. "The more they hate you, the more they pay to see you" Some people say it is true but I'd never buy a DLH fight, although I have a serious dislike for him.
