Calderon-Mayol Fight to be air free by Direct TV

DirecTV programming is broadcasting live the fight between Puerto Rican, Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon and the Filipino Rodel Mayol on the night of June 13 from Madison Square Garden in New York.

"From the moment we had the idea for the public on the island could see the return of Calderon to the ring for his defense of the 108 pounds title after 10 months off, we let them know that we're interested. Be the first time that Calderon made a fight at Madison Square Garden and wanted to give this gift to our subscribers, "said Arnaldo Perez, director of marketing for DirecTV, the press during the morning. The fight may be seen free of charge through the channel 161.

Calderon, meanwhile, is relieved that his family in Puerto Rico can see him fight in New York.

"I am very happy to know that my parents who can not be there, and have different health conditions at least thyey can see the fight on television," said Calderon, who will depart to the Big Apple on June 8.

The meeting-Mayol Calderon will be part of the bill to head Welter champion (147 pounds) Miguel Cotto, who will defend the belt of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) against Ghanaian Joshua Clottey. It will be broadcast by HBO from 10:30 at night.
