    Boxing Polularity

I beleive UFC is coming back to earth and people are coming back to appreciating boxing. In articles I have read that the biggest boxing PPV events still sell way more than the big UFC events...

UFC uses more of its dollars to promote, and less goes to fighters, and vice versa in boxing

Do yall think boxing coming back on top? People dont rave about UFC *AS* much as they did a few years ago. I also notice more people on this forum as I was a long time watcher, first time poster as of today

imagine if there was a boxing card with all the top welterweights, and top fighters from every division to form a super boxing event. That would kill ratings

BTW, Im a UFC fan, but a boxing fan at heart

ufc is having a changing of the guard.

          - all their name stars like liddel, hughes, etc... are shot.

          - you got dudes like the spider silva and lyoto who are slick counterpunchers and ufc fans don't like that.

          - also penn/gsp (who were supposed to be their versions of p4p #1) was a huge disappointment, because it dared compare itself to "hagler/hearns".

ufc will get its audience back once it goes back to crude dudes who take turns punching each other in the face.

Boxing holds the all-time ppv record, but UFC consistantly puts up better numbers. UFC dominated last year in the ppv buy rates.

Top 10 North American PPV buy rates, 2008

            1. Boxing: Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao, Dec. 6, 1,250,000

            2. UFC: Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Couture, Nov. 15, 1,010,000

            3. Wrestling: WrestleMania, Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Paul “Big Show” Wight, March 30, 670,000

            4. UFC: Georges St. Pierre vs. Jon Fitch/Lesnar vs. Heath Herring, Aug. 9, 625,000

            5. UFC: Lesnar vs. Frank Mir, Feb. 2, 600,000

            6. UFC: Quinton Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin, July 5, 540,000

            7. UFC: St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra, April 19, 530,000

            8. Boxing: Felix Trinidad vs. Roy Jones Jr., Jan. 19, 500,000

            9. UFC: Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans, Sept. 6, 480,000

Bottom line is people want a quality product. The problem with boxing is, you get one big named fight and the undercard is trash most of the time.

Boxing fans are sick of this **** and I hope Golden Boy changes this. The days of Arum and King are almost over and when they are, I think we see a much better product in boxing.

Boxing SHOULD learn from the UFC and promote a BIG super event and have all the biggest draws in boxing
